„We have nothing left of the architecture of earlier eras.“
(Le Corbusier)
The ideal of modernity is an architecture purged of tradition, craftsmanship and regional materiality, a global „International Style“ (Philip Johnson). However, we have long since discovered that there is a moment of quality of life in the individual character of craftsmanship and in the diversity of historical styles. With the demolition of industrial culture, our cities not only rob themselves of important moments of their identity, but also of unique options for use.
These works are a homage to three of the destroyed industrial buildings in Arnstadt, the home of Jan Kobel.
